Some of us from the Copenhagen startup system love football.
And we also sincerely believe that we are better than everybody else at playing it - therefore it makes sense to organise a tournament, where we can prove we are right.
However, we will surely fail in proving this, but at least we hope we can establish a once a year event, where all the football lovers + hangarounds can meet up and have a great day together.
We hope mixing football with the opportunity to see old and new friends in a different setting than the normal office environment will give something extra.
The organising companies are Planday, GenieBelt, Trustpilot and Spire. We look forward to be joined by many other of the tech startups in the Greater Copenhagen area.
The tournament will take place on Sunday 11. June from around 12.00 and into the afternoon until the winning team has been found and celebrated.
In order to make sure even the smaller startups can establish a team and participate, we have decided to run the tournament based on 4-a-side, i.e. each team will have 4 players on the pitch. The teams can of course have more people, and there are no limits on the number of substitutes.
Each player needs to have a relevant association with a company before that person can join the football team. We have no real rules for when someone is allowed to join, but we are sure people will use common sense in order to figure it out. If not, then the TechBBQ Cup Committee will make a decision on the issue (NB: this committee doesn't really exist yet).
Each game will last around 8 minutes.
All teams will participate in the group stage, afterwards we will use a cup system to see who reaches the finals.
Each company can enter a maximum of 3 teams.
The winners are allowed to boast on the day of the tournament, but not afterwards.
Where would football be without stats?
